Almost 50% of the smart phone in the world is running Google’s Android while 34% counted for Apple iPhone.
The biggest reasons for this due to the flexibility and easy to use OS.
With all respects for the world highly successful smartphone OS there are some major issues the Google and the android team need to fix ASAP:

1. Running background services
The worst thing in the Android phones is that you can’t really control what services are running in the background, it will suck your RAM and will dry your battery and you can’t do anything about it, the only way to stop this battle is to root your phone which will make you exposed to the Hacker world.

2. Hardware Standardization
Yes we know it’s open source and it’s free, but the fragmentation never been healthy for the developers, Android is coming in all types and size of mobile and tablet that you can ever imagine. That’s not good at all for any developer because he need to make his app compatible with any screen size and resolutions

3. Android Market Control “Google Play”
As an open source OS it’s not really necessary that the app market should be free and open to any crap applications, more than 250k app are available now in Google Play “formerly Android Market” most of this app are useless and too bad to be in such market.

4. Feeding the Big App’s
The major deference between smartphones and classic mobile phones are Apps,
And for Google to maintain their rank as number one smartphone OS it need to found and support the best apps in their store specially after the big success for Amazon Kindle fire.

5. Multilingual out of the Box
One of the key fragmentation issue with Android OS that if you buy a smartphone from China, USA, Japan … you will not find all of the language are ready to be used “ Arabic, Japanese, Tai, Korean, Persian, Urdo…”
That’s the opposite in any iPad, iPhone or any other Apple products.

6. Real Android experience
Most of the Android hardware manufactures will replace the original android experience with their own customizations, which is good for the competition, but the original android experience and Google’s innovation in the original experience will be waste, so it’s better to make the default experience available as an option for all android users.

7. Android Update – by Google
Google need to step-up with this major issue and handle all the updates that will be available to their OS, all the hardware manufactures should submit their changes made to the OS to Google and Google team need to incorporate it in the new available updated OS, this is the only way that we can guarantee the updates or upgrades are available to users ASAP.

The first generation of HAMR (heat-assisted magnetic recording) drives, at just over 1 terabit per square inch, will likely more than double these capacities – to 6TB for 3.5-inch drives and 2TB for 2.5-inch models.

With mobile phones becoming the most connected device and wider usability for emails, browsers and eReaders “News/eBooks/reports” the demand for bigger and better screen is increased. With 5.3”screen the Galaxy note is the biggest lightest phone and unique, the 1280 x 800 pixels you once could only get with a full-size laptop can now slide comfortably into your pocket.

Processor
1.5GHz dual-core processor with 800 MB RAM.

Camera
The Galaxy Note offered more than acceptable performance. During my indoor and outdoor shoot, the camera was able to balance color and exposure properly with most subjects in still mode. The autofocus worked well most of the time with it’s 8 MP camera that features Action Shot, Beauty, Panorama Shot, Smile Shot.

Performance
The Galaxy Note may slot squarely in between a phone and a tablet in terms of physical dimensions, but when it comes to performance it’s fantastic and extraordinary fast and smooth operation.

Battery
It feature Li-on 2,500 mAh, in my daily test it’s not enough, you will need to keep charge the phone every 6 to 10 hours if you are heavy user like me but if you are list user then it may last for 16 hours.

In fact the battery issue is due to the weak power management in all android devices and multi task or the running background app that needs to root your phone to disable their auto restart option is the reason to this issue and Google didn’t do anything to help it so far.

Operating System
Android 2.3 is the standard OS and hopefully and upgrade to 4.0 in next weeks

Continue reading »]]> We have 2 facts to deal with today, First : Windows is the domination OS, Second Apple OS is the most promising one.
but for us as a users we require Secure and Fast OS with minimum maintenance required and that is typically Mac OS X 10.7 with it’s iOS face-lift:)
uncomfortably we use to deal with Free Or Open Source software on Windows that we needed to be for Mac and I will start adding Softwares from time to time:

1. CCleaner : is the most wonted Software, to keep the Mac clean and remove your history from been tracked. – it’s now on beta for Mac.
2. k-Lite CodicPack: although there is so many video player for mac but k-lite is Super video player, it has the ability to open almost any type of video format with great features.
3. Paint.net : it may not come near to the superior PhotoShop but it’s one of the Greatest software available only for windows, I think it’s the time for them to move on to the Graphic OS.
4. Orbit or Flashget: having a download accelerator is too important when you need to download big files or when you Need For Speed.
5. Internet Explorer 10: Microsoft need to grow a bit and improve its services by being right next to the users when they need, by limiting IE to windows users the IE share will keep dropping faster and faster and being services will no longer grow that much.
6. Format Factory: there are too many format converter for Windows but there are few only for mac and most of them is non-Free.
7. Windows Live: We all know Windows live is one of the most attractive tools for windows but it will be good idea to allow it on another platform like Mac
8. Notepad++: is a free source code editor and Notepad replacement that supports several languages.
9. Avast or AVG: Yes I know Mac does not have Viruses issues while others do! but we need it for the file-sharing and email.
10. IZArc: is the best way to extract zip, rar and many other archives for free.
